OLD MAN – Album (before becoming SUMMERCAMP)

Streaming now on all platforms!

In 1993 my band OLD MAN released a full length album of original music on cassette. The music was recorded at my house on a Tascam 38 1/2” 8-track in Santa Barbara. No computers yet! The album cover and logo is a painting I created using paraffin wax and Dr. Martin Dyes. There was quite a music scene in Santa Barbara at that time, and it was a lot of fun to be a part of it. A while after the album’s release, drummer Tony Sevener joined the band, and a few years later we changed our name to SUMMERCAMP, and eventually signed with Maverick Records (Warner Bros). A few of the songs on the OLD MAN cassette would carry over to SUMMERCAMP’s debut album “Pure Juice” in 1997.

“I just want to say this out loud:  Karla’s new album is stunning.  I listen to music for a living – (amazing right?) and I was stopped in my tracks.  I could not do anything else but listen. She sang every word and was invested in every note.  I felt it.  There was so much care and emotion.  And the arrangements, the production values and the authenticity of her delivery – just tears.I am really looking forward to adding this to rotation – I normally shoot for around 4 tracks for an album I enjoy – I am adding 6 of Karla’s new album.  I hope she truly knows how incredible her talent is on this planet. Just beautiful.”
