I have to say that I really enjoy these song requests. I was given one the other day asking for a song about painting or making art—Yet another topic I wouldn’t typically write about.
I called my friend (music producer) Robinson Eikenberry to see if he wanted to collaborate. We got together at my place and spent a few minutes sharing our chord progression ideas while whimpering lyric-less melodies, peppered with an occasional relevant word. We found inspiration in the idea of feeling creative, more than just the physical act of making art. From there we chose a couple of chord progressions and arranged them in a way that seemed to evoke an inspired feeling.
