Toad The Wet Sprocket – Rings (The Acoustic Sessions)

I’m proud to announce the release of this wonderful album Toad The Wet Sprocket – Rings The Acoustic Sessions. I had the pleasure of recording and co-producing this collection of amazing songs at my studio, Coyote Road Studios in Santa Barbara. The idea was to record acoustic driven versions of Toad’s hits as well as reimagining some of there deeps cuts. So many great songs! It was a wonderful experience to work with such amazingly talented friends!

I had the pleasure of playing the fingerpicking guitars on “Jam”. Another example is Glen came up with the idea of turning one of their rockers “Rings” into a piano ballad – so good. There are amazing guest musicians on this album as well – See the list below!

Baywatch “California Dream”

I was asked by the producers of Baywatch to write a song to replace the song “Good Vibrations” by The Beach Boys for this classic Baywatch montage as part of the monumental Baywatch HD Remastering effort. I was honored and a little terrified to replace such an epic song. Here’s what I came up with: “California Dream

The original Baywatch series was shot on 35mm film, so the producers were able to go back and scan all of the original footage for all 9 seasons and digitize them in high definition. All 350 songs for the classic montages needed to be replaced. No easy task, but certainly a fun one! Many songwriters were involved and it took months to cross the finish line. I was fortunate enough to contribute 21 songs working out of my home studio. I had the pleasure of collaborating with Tariqh Akoni and Tony Sevener, from Summercamp on a few of those songs as well.

Scoring for a Chamber Orchestra

Recently I was given the opportunity to compose two pieces of music for the Harid Alumni Chamber Orchestra. Although I’ve been writing and recording music for many years, this was my first attempt at composing and creating sheet music for a real, living and breathing chamber orchestra.

Unfortunately I was not able to attend the live performance at the Harid Conservatory in Boca Raton, Florida in March of 2016.  However I do have a video of the performance of both pieces “A Moment in Time” & “Behind the Red Door”.

Performing “A Moment in Time” & “Behind the Red Door”

1. A Moment in Time

The first piece is titled “A Moment in Time”. I mocked up a demo in Logic Pro using virtual instruments. From there was able to generate a full score as well as individual sheet music for Violin, Viola, Cello, Bass, French Horn, Clarinet, Flute and Piano.

2. Behind the Red Door

The second piece is titled “Behind the Red Door”. This piece started out with Michelle Beauchesne’s cello melody. I recorded her part in Logic Pro and then orchestrated around that with virtual instruments to give the cello line some movement and lift. Once the demo was complete I was able to generate a score and individual sheet music for each musician.

Where is home for you
Is it a place to lay your head
What is a home to you
Is it a place where you are fed

Do you earn it
Or Is it a gift that’s handed down
Do you find it
Like panning for gold, will it be found

Where is home for you
Is it the love within these walls
What is home to you
Is it the long distance phone calls

Do you feel it
Or is it a thing that we can make
Can you heal it
Anything good is bound to break

Home… There’s no other place you’d rather go
Home… When you get there you will know

Where is home for you
Is it here are very far
What is home to you
Is it the laughter from the yard

Can you save it
In photographs on the wall
Would you change it
Nothing stays the same after all

Home… There’s no other place you’d rather be
Home… and no other face you’d rather see
Home… There’s no other place you’d rather go
Home… When you get there you will know
